Dr. Rankin provides upper extremity surgery on an Elective or Traumatic basis for Palm Beach County residents. He is one of only three Physicians who take emergency hand call through the emergency room at St. Mary’s Hospital, which is one of the busiest trauma centers in the State of Florida.

Many people do not realize that the process of becoming a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon requires full training in hand and upper extremity surgery. This remains a passion of Dr. Rankin’s along with his busy Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery practice.

Common upper extremity procedures performed by Dr. Rankin include surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome, repair of tendon and nerve injuries, repair of fractures of the finger bones, skin grafts and flaps and treatment for infections.

Effective recovery from an upper extremity surgery may begin with a surgical procedure, but often requires Occupational Therapy post-operatively for the best possible outcome.
