Like JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel, Restylane® contains hyaluronic acid, a polysaccharide (sugar) that naturally exists in human skin. Hyaluronic acid attracts moisture, promoting softer, smoother, more elastic skin. Over time, the body’s natural supply of hyaluronic acid is depleted. Restylane® replenishes this vital component of healthy skin.

No allergy test is required before treatment with Restylane®, because the hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is not derived from an animal source. At our Palm Beach County practice, treatment takes about 20 to 30 minutes, during which Dr. Rankin uses a very fine needle to inject Restylane® into the skin. Although some discomfort may be experienced at the injection site, little or no downtime is involved and results are immediately apparent.

Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance, Restylane® is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body. So, while the effects of Restylane® are long-lasting, follow-up treatments may be recommended every six months to maintain the desired results.
